Mintabie township to close following review

The State Government has decided to terminate the lease of the Mintabie township on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands.

In consultation with the APY Executive Board, the town will be closed and management of the area will revert to APY in 2019. The decision to terminate the lease follows a Federal Court finding in 2016 and subsequent South Australian government-led review about the operation of the township.

The review was overseen by an independent Chairperson, Mr Paul Case, and supported by the Panel. It was undertaken by the State Government in partnership with the APY Executive Board and the Commonwealth Government.

A copy of the report, and the government's response, are available below.
