The launch of 14 new Exploration Release Areas (ERAs) in South Australia’s Far West represents an exciting new frontier for mineral exploration in the state. This is a unique opportunity for the successful applicants to be first movers in a vastly under-explored frontier area, where the Geological Survey of South Australia (GSSA) continues to work in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Western Australia, CSIRO and Geoscience Australia, to advance a new phase of mineral discoveries.
In the lead-up to the application period for the new ERAs in early June, the GSSA will be hosting an information session on Friday 20 May, from 1–3 pm for industry participants, at the new South Australia Drill Core Reference Library.
Detail about the competitive ERA process, and tips on how to prepare a valid application, will be discussed. Additionally, a number of geoscience talks will be presented by the GSSA and collaborators from the CSIRO on the following topics:
- the Coompana Province in a regional context
- new geological constraints from recently acquired data
- geophysical modelling of the Coompana magnetic anomaly
- AusLAMP magnetotellurics in the far west of SA
- PACE pre-competitive data acquisition and the GSSA’s future work program.
Attending participants will be able to engage in a Q&A session on the day; receive a guided tour of the new world-class core library facilities; and view core from several of the existing holes in the Coompana area.
All presentations will be available to watch and download via the Minerals website after the session.
